Definition of Travel Writing

Among different genres of writing, travel writing is one kind. It includes account of places which are either real or imaginary. This type of writing can generally be categorized into a number of styles which includes the documentary type, the journalistic type, the informative, and the humorous type and of course the literary type.Various accounts on travel form an integral part of the tourism industry. It includes details about various places and in most of the cases gives useful piece of advice to the tourists. They serve as guide books for the tourists. In some cases a particular piece on travel may be so interesting that a traveler gets interested to visit the place as he/she goes through the writing.But travel writers may have some skill within them. it is not possible a piece of travelogue unless you have any knowledge about travel. The writer should have an intense desire to experience the unknown. He/she should have a desire to know the local culture of the place to which they are traveling. They should also have the capacity to interact with the local people. Moreover it is necessary that writing skill of the writer is up to the mark. This is because unless a travelogue is interesting and holds the attention of the reader till the end it is of no use.
