Other Men and Other Flowers Wilt and Fade Away
August 16th, 2009
I knew I wasn’t the only man trying to get Marie’s attention. So when I showed up at her door with a narrow box, I know she was thinking “Another guy with another box of roses.” So I forgave her when her smile didn’t get as far as her eyes. When she opened that box, though, and saw that the single flower I’d brought her was a gold plated rose, she was speechless. Her reaction made it all worth it. I said to her “I know other guys bring you flowers, but their flowers wilt and fade away. This rose is going to last, just like me.” She looked at me differently after that.
