Firstly remember that PS3 is affected by the heat. This happens to many consoles, and it will chiefly cause the PlayStation 3 to freeze at some point. You must see that heat will either make it freeze or shut down entirely.Do you know what to look after next? Try and verify the connections switch off the unit manually via the onboard switch in the back, cut off all cables, and then remove the hard drive.Try and see after 10 minutes reattach the cables, hit the switch, and see if this solves your problem.
