DVD market is divided by two competing technologies the DVD+R and the DVD-R. If you are just a casual user you might not have noticed the difference. Some of the DVDs you use would have been created with DVD+R though DVD-R is the most used standard. Either way it is important that your disk burner is capable of playing all these different types of DVDs. Further the advent of double layer and dual layer DVDs should also be taken into consideration. If you are thinking about buying a DVD Disc Burner make sure it is a hybrid drive which can play all of these formats.
