Companies effectively battling against identity theft

I’m sure that you have heard of identity theft — where the “identity” of another individual is stolen or compromised, usually for financial gain. Did you know that identity-related crime is the fastest growing crime throughout the world today? English-speaking countries in particular, such as the USA, Britain, Australia, and elsewhere are particular targets of identity thieves. In an effort to combat this rising flood of crime, many companies are resorting to speaker verification — a process that uses speech recognition software and technology in an effort to ensure that only the legitimate account holder has the ability to make changes to their account or incur charges and other financial obligations.
