The Hiking Opportunities Of The Petrified Forest

If you enjoy hiking then the Petrified Forest National Park provides more or less endless hiking opportunities in a desert landscape which really needs no trails. For those new to hiking this is a perfect area as it really is quite difficult to get lost and you can see for miles in every direction. Among the many sights as you hike along are Pilot Rock and Devil’s Playground and, if you take the Painted Desert Rim Trail, you will wind your way through the most unusual sight of brightly colored vegetation. Here the volcanic ash which enriches the soil provides the perfect growing medium and the plants are as amazing as anything you will see in any forest. So, if you are not familiar with the area then now is the perfect time to dig out your favorite pair of Vasque hiking boots and point the car towards Arizona.
