University Of Texas Longhorns Football had its inaugural season long ago, in the year 1893. The University of Texas at Austin football team is known as the Longhorns, or the Horns. Since 1916, the Longhorns’ team mascot has been a Texas longhorn steer who is named Bevo. The Longhorns’ team color is burnt orange and so is the coloring of Bevo the team mascot. With its seating capacity of over 100,000, the Darrell K. Royal Texas Memorial Stadium is the Longhorns’ home stadium. The University of Texas football team is prominent among the members of the Big 12 Conference, South Division. The University of Texas football team captured national championships in 1963, 1969, 1970, and 2005. Some of the Horns’ notable bowl games are the 2010 BCS Bowl, 2009 Fiesta Bowl, 2007 Alamo Bowl, and 2006 Rose Bowl.
