It made for great entertainment but it did not make much common sense

I do not think that I know which cartoon you are talking about but I do remember those lapel pins. I think I saw them used on the “Three Stooges” a couple of times. I never understood why they would look into the pin if they knew that it could hypnotize anyone. It just seemed like a no-brainer if saw it happen to someone else. And once they hypnotized someone they would do something silly like ram them into a wall. I never understood that. It made for great entertainment but it did not make much common sense to do that kind of stuff.
