Is a diabetic diet very boring?

I have just been told by my doctor that it looks like I have diabetes, and that I should change my eating habits to be more in line with a proper diabetic diet so that I can improve my health as much as possible. I am also supposed to start exercising, which I am not really looking forward to. Can someone tell me where I can find out what it is good for diabetics to eat? Is a diabetic diet very boring or is there still a lot of flavorful food that I can eat? Can anyone recommend a good cookbook?
