How common is couple jewelry?

When I think of couple jewelry, the main thing I usually think of is wedding bands. Many couples end up getting matching wedding bands, and that is one of the times men are willing to wear matching jewelry. I am wondering if it is very common for couples to get other matching jewelry, or if it is mainly just the men getting jewelry for the women for different occasions? What kind of different couple jewelry options are there, and which are the most popular? I am thinking it might be a good idea for my boyfriend and I since we want something to show our commitment even though we aren’t ready to get married yet.
