Everyone Enjoys Beaded Gemstone Jewelry
April 3rd, 2009
Beaded gemstone jewelry is usually a combination of semi-precious stones and silver or gold. Just because the stones are semi-precious does not mean that they aren’t precious to the wearer. This classification of gemstones is not based on how classy or expensive the gems are, but rather how rare they are on the face of the earth. The rarer gemstones – diamonds, rubies, sapphires – are considered to be precious stones because of their rarity.
Gems used in beaded jewelry may or may not be polished and refined. Modern styles in turquoise jewelry, for instance, favor less uniform stones. In many cases, the more unusual the stones are, the more expensive the piece of jewelry. On the other hand, pieces that feature absolutely uniform beads of semi-precious stones can be quite expensive and treasure by the owner.
