Dreams and Eyes

June 27th, 2008

If you’ve taken any psychology class, you might have learned about Rapid Eye Movement (REM) sleep. Have you ever wondered why the eyes move in the manner that they do? There seems to be no rhyme or reason to the eye movement on a physical level, but there may be a reason in the subconscious level. Our dreams can be the reason for the eye movement. Some research into this matter has determined that the reason our eyes move during REM sleep is to represent the direction that we are looking toward in our dreams. This can help lucid dreamers communicate by using their eye signals.
