Does Christian marriage counseling work?

So the other day after two weeks of suspicion I finally confronted my husband to ask if he had been having an affair. I can’t say I was shocked when he told me that he had been and that he was in love with the other woman. I’m really hoping that he’ll agree to go to Christian marriage counseling but before I try and convince him to do this I want to make sure that it’s going to be useful. I think that if we spent all that money and all that time going through counseling and it didn’t work it would be the final nail in the coffin.
