Credit Restoration From Scratch

February 4th, 2009

With the new mortgage requirements, making sure you have good credit is more important than ever.  credit restoration is possible to repair past mistakes, but the best thing to do is to be wise from the start.  Whether you are new to using credit, or have an established history, there are a few things you might not know about good credit and credit restoration.

Did you know that payment history is about 35% of your credit score?  While your credit report goes back seven years, the most recent 24-month history goes into loan or credit decisions.  The length of your late pays is also a factor.  An over thirty days late may possibly be explained, but once things go over 90 days, the account is considered severely delinquent. It is more difficult to repair credit than to keep it good from the start.
