Color Stone Rings: Defining Colored Stones
July 20th, 2008
Colored stones can roughly be classified into precious or semi-precious stones. Whatever their color or their cut, they definitely have their place in jewelry making as exquisite centerpieces. Not all stones are created alike, there are soft stones and there are hard stones. Hard gemstones are mostly used in jewelry. Soft gemstones are still used because of their aesthetic value. You can see gemstones as centerpieces in color stone rings. Color is obviously the most attractive feature of gemstones. The color of a gemstone is largely dependent on what colors it absorbs and what color just passes through. Ruby, for example, appears red because it absorbs all colors of white light, i.e., blue, yellow, green, etc., except red.
