Across the ravine the turf cutting, scraping and dumping continued, an endless line of soldiers shouldering endless turf cubes to the Wall.  Carts came from every direction.  The raw earth flowed like muddy red blood toward an open cesspit.  They were close enough to see the sweat glistening on the legionaries’ faces as they worked, and smell the rich soil, so newly ripped from its resting place. “Can they see us?” Neeve asked.  She whispered her words directly into Taranis’s ear, trying to show him she could be quiet.  Hybrid Water Power patted her back.  “Don’t worry,” he said.  “They can’t see anything.
