Do not drop a thing.

When going from the garage to the garden I often have my hands full of tools or fertilizer or something else I am going to need in the garden that day. For years I would get to the garden gate, set everything down, open the gate and then try to get through before it swung closed and I had to got through the process again. We have now installed automatic electric gates on either end of the garden. I have a push button control on a post about three foot from the gate so even with my hands full I can push the button and open the gate.
