If you have sent anyone a greeting card recently, you were probably shocked by the amount of money that you had to spend. For a little card from the store, with a picture and maybe a dozen words printed on it, you probably spent three, four, or even five or more dollars, just to send someone a token of your appreciation, gratitude, or sympathy. There are two main types of free e-cards that you can send to your loved ones; one is similar to your traditional greeting cards that you would find at your local grocery store or specialty greeting card store, the only difference being that rather than purchasing a card from the store, you go online and print your free e-cards off the internet from your printer. The other type of free e-cards that you can find on the internet are cards that you send via e-mail, or that you send by giving the recipient of your card a link to a website where the free e-cards are hosted; this is what most people mean when they talk about e-cards, a card that is entirely electronic and exists only on the internet. There are many advantages to using free e-cards compared to purchasing traditional greeting cards at the store, not the least of which is the fact that you can save quite a bit of money when you use free e-cards instead of traditional greeting cards.
One of the major advantages of using free e-cards for special occasions is that you have a much wider selection of cards to choose from than you would in the grocery store, or even in a greeting card store. The number of different cards that a store can carry is limited by their shelf space, and even large stores that specialize in greeting cards only have so many different cards for any given occasion for you to choose from. With free e-cards, you get to take advantage of the fact that there is a virtually unlimited amount of electronic “shelf space” available, so that you have exponentially more options when it comes to finding just the right card for the occasion. Another major advantage of using free e-cards over traditional greeting cards is that you can personalize and customize an e-card much more than you can a traditional paper or card stock greeting card. A traditional card has a picture and a message printed on it, and the only personalization or customization that you can really do is to write your own note in addition to the words already printed on the card. Free e-cards allow you to customize the card much more than that, by adding or removing your own pictures or text, customizing the font, and essentially making your own card based on the template provided to you. It is much easier to find just the right e-card than it is to find the right greeting card, also, because the internet allows you to search through the available options in a much easier manner than simply browsing the shelf space. You can go online and search for greeting cards based on the occasion, style, color, message, or any other criteria that you deem important, to give you the perfect card.
