Menopause Treatments

February 27th, 2008

Estrogen (hormone) treatments must be supervised by a competent physician. Under no circumstances should you attempt self-medication. There are just too many variables to take account of.

If you have had any serious illness or operations, you should mention these to your doctor during your first interview. This will have a bearing on which type of menopause treatment is best for you.

Particularly, you should tell him if there has ever been any suspicion of cancer, or any kidney or liver diseases, or thrombophlebitis (blood clots in veins). Under these special conditions, the therapy may have to be modified.
