These membranes affort protection, supply nutrition and also help in gaseous exchange. The placenta is a flat cake-like and highly vascular structure which develops from the uterine wall and fused structure of two foetal membranes (allanto-chorion). A twisted cord, the umbilical cord made of an artery and a vein, connects the foetus with the placenta. Nutrition and oxygen are supplied from the mother’s body through the placenta. Carbon dioxide and metabolic nitrogenous wastes are eliminated from the body of the foetus to mother’s circulation via the same route. medical billing training focuse on these issues for the proper coding and billing.
