I Had the Flu Vaccine Before Starting Clinicals in Nursing School

May 17th, 2009

I am a nursing student and was getting ready to start clinicals.  One of the shots I was advised to get was the flu vaccine.  This is because I was about to enter a hospital setting where people are hospitalized with all sorts of ailments including the flu.  Further, it was because they didn’t want me catching the flu elsewhere and bringing it into the hospital to the patients who already have altered health states.  This is a great idea.  The vaccine cannot prevent every strain of the flu, but it can help to eradicate some of them and this is helpful for everyone.
