Complications of Cracked Heels

February 14th, 2010

What happens in cracked heels is that the skin around the heels gets thick and dry. It is more common to people and can be observe who do not wear shoes because the fat pad under the heel expands and stretches the skin thus the cracks. With cracked heels bleeding can also happen since once the dry skin cracks, it starts to pull on the normal skin below. Sad to say, the dry skin will never be healed and the only thing to do is to see a Podiatrist in order to remove it. They use tapes to hold the cracks together. If you don’t want to get cracked heels, you can use emollients.
