The current political and economic climate of the world and, particularly, the United States leads us to think of ecological and environmental issues in very broad, often abstract terms.  Because of this, we fail to really appreciate the efforts that go on every day, including the exemplary measures taken by the Alaska fishing industry to promote ecological conservation and biodiversity sustainability.  The combined effort of politicians, business people, fishermen, environmentalists and scientists render conservation laws in Alaska a huge success.  They guarantee the flourishing of the Alaskan fishing industry for years to come and the preservation of the diverse wildlife and nature that make Alaska unique.
