Friend Gives Me Advice On How to Reformat My Computer

I recently upgraded to a bigger hard drive. I had no idea how to install it, but I also did not want to lose the information that was on my old hard drive. I had space in my computer to add the second hard drive, so with the help of a friend that is what I did. In order to reformat it, I had to use the fdisk mbr so that we could properly get the computer to start. I learned a lot in the process, but not sure if I will remember it the next time I decide to upgrade my computer.
