Which Law Degree?

Lawyers graduating from Canada have usually been assigned Bachelors of Law Degree also known as LLB, while lawyers in the United States have been offered the Juris Doctor Degree also known as JD. Currently a Toronto Lawyer graduating from University of Toronto is being offered a Juris Doctor Degree to be on par with their counterparts in the US. As a result of this change, the tuition fees for law schools in Toronto have also become on par with the tuition fees in the United States. The switch for Toronto Universities to offer a Juis Doctor Degree has also promoted Western Universities in Canada to offer a Juris Doctor Degree instead of the Bachelors of Law designation.
