What do schools, roads, parks — and public housing — all have in common?

February 28th, 2008

Do you know what schools, roads, parks and even public housing have in common? I’ll bet you didn’t answer, “investment bonds,” did you? Most people are unaware of the fact that a great deal of government-related construction depends upon tapping into vast amounts of private capital. Without these types of investments, many of these construction projects would have to wait — and in some cases perhaps never be built. That’s because government simply does not have the resources to finance these construction projects 100% from tax revenues. This is why these types of investments are often tax-free — those who are willing to lend their money to benefit the whole community should receive a tangible “reward” for their efforts!
