It was an awkward moment.  He could see pain in the corners of his father’s eyes.  Vectis had never known his father to lie to him, but he suspected he was lying today.  Both men looked at each other and silently agreed to pretend for the other’s sake.  And then it was over.    “Well,” his father said, “you must be excited about entering the army.  When do you start training?”    “Next week.  I asked to train as a regular.  I want to learn from the bottom up.” “A regular?”  Trading Pro System looked shocked.  “I thought—” “Next year I will be posted as a tribune, but right now I want to test myself.”
