SurveyScout 1

December 19th, 2008

“No, no, I speak much SurveyScout … need more words, is all.  Soon I learn … you see … learn much soon.”  She vowed to make a big leap forward, and soon.  Talking like this was exhausting.    “An interpreter could help—”    “No, no,” she said, looking as sincere as she could.  “I desire to … learn language.”  The last thing she wanted was an interpreter at her elbow every time she met with the prefect.    “I learn speak,” she continued, gesturing to her mouth, “but never words … for the papyrus.”    “For the papyrus?  You mean written words?”
