Should I Make IRA Gold Investments?

What is the best way to make money from your IRA? Should I make IRA gold investments, or would other types of investments be more likely to increase my savings faster? I want to make sure that I have a good nest egg for when I finally decide to stop working, so I prefer something that will be likely to result in a decent amount of earnings without too much risk. I want to stay away from investments that are considered very risky, and concentrate on those that are less risky and more middle of the road when it comes to risk.
