Is blog commenting effective to get backlinks?

October 5th, 2008

There were many software created to make blog commenting easy. In fact you can find them even free. However most blogs were getting spammed with useless comments - you could quickly tell that the comment was spam. Webmasters were using software to mass comment on blogs - to get backlinks in return.

This resulted in blogs adopting to the spam - and created the nofollow tag. If you wanted to improve search engine rankings using just blog commenting software - that dream faded away.

Means backlinks you get from blog commenting is useless for the Google search engine. There are still some search engines that give you credit for blog comments backlinks. But Google spider ignores links that have the nofollow tag. So the tag was created to shut down the spamming. It worked like magic, because everyone knows that it is useless.

So like any other black hat strategy or software, these things come and go… risky stuff!
