Improving process management with a lean manufacturing system
February 15th, 2008
The mass production of goods and services allows a company to achieve economy of scale that reduces the overall cost of the product. This translates into cheaper products for the consumer. This process does not necessarily mean that products will be brought to the market faster. A lean Manufacturing system is a paradigm that concentrates on process management. The end result is that you can streamline the production process, eliminate waste and bring the product to the market faster. For some companies it can result in a significant competitive advantage. For others it adds value for the customer which improves product positioning and helps to differentiate product offering.
