Domain Names and Trademarks

The internet is a great place for businesses and individuals to reach a wider market. Whether their intent is to inform, sell products, or for entertainment, websites are created everyday. WIth the domain name system, it is difficult to enforce an entitlement to specific domain names for entities with trademark holdings. The internet is a global system and the rights of domain names cannot be guaranteed to anyone, even those with trademarks. There is a case for an entity when someone under the domain name is using the website to compete against trademark holders, especially when the trademark was established before the website creation.
