Accordion shutters

September 19th, 2009

The biggest selling hurricane shutter has now become the accordion shutters, also known as “Folding Shutter” or by an old trade name “Fold-a-gard”.

It is called a “folding shutter” because it literally folds in the middle where various blades meet at a tight joint. These blades are then assembled together at the factory, and as many as needed are put together to make them in different sizes.

What makes the accordion shutter a best seller?

It’s affordable, strong, versatile (can be used for storm and security), good looking and is very affordable.Mr. Robinson of Robinson and Son in South Florida invented it.  The company went out of business.

But for many years they were number one and thanks to Mr., Robinson many companies can make them and provide thousands of customers with accordion shutters. He never patented his shutter.
