Avoiding Car Dealer Scams

January 24th, 2009

There are reports of dishonesty in the motor industry; car dealer scams involving finance and co-signing are among the most reported of incidents. A good thing to do when you are purchasing or signing anything is to ask questions. All right, you don’t know what question to ask, that’s how a lot of car dealer scams operate, so there might be a loophole for the miscreant you suspect of professional misconduct when they can say, “You never asked me about that.” The way around it is to play your simpleton card, admit that you are clueless out loud – you have now declared to the salesman that you are special needs and require help and assistance in understanding the transaction. The question at the end of your conversation, even if you feel satisfied, is, “Are there any questions I should be asking you or anything else I need to know?” They are then obliged to inform you according to the standards of practice and hopefully you can avoid any car dealer scams.
