Ibanez Guitars

May 16th, 2009

Ibanez has been a brand of guitar for almost a century dating back to the late 1920’s.  Ibanez is one of the most popular and biggest names in the industry of guitar making and accessories (amps, basses, effects, etc).  The Japanese company is one of a very select few Asian music companies who has been successful in marketing and selling in the United States and Europe.  Ibanez’s major impact on the US began back in the early 1950’s.  During the next few eras however, Ibanez was ridiculed for copying designs of other manufacturers and faced many years in litigation.  It wasn’t until the late 1980’s that Ibanez guitars would become a popular household name again amongst 80’s hair band fanatics and the ever growing grunge era.  It didn’t matter if they were new or used guitars. It was Ibanez that first named one of their series of models the “AX” series which spawned a wave of metal mania in the US.
